Several school districts across the country had its first day back to in-person classes, among those school districts McAllen Independent School District.
Many kids returned with smiles on their faces, but this time they were covered with face masks, a mandate against Gov. Abbott’s executive order.
However, many local parents are thankful for the mandate, feeling more secure with the use of face masks.
Parents and students from Ben Milam Elementary expressed how they felt about returning to the classroom a year after learning remotely.
Students say they have seen changes in their school, specifically in the cafeteria, but that they are very happy to come back and see their friends.
